The Strawberry Thief is one of William Morris's most popular repeating designs for textiles. This famous pattern was designed in 1883. At the time William Morris and his family lived at the Kelmscott Manor in Hammersmith, which had a large garden. But the strawberry patch was constantly attacked by thrushes swooping in to feast on the berries.
